Privacy Policy

The short version: your Bluetooth link and alerting happen on your phone. If you make an account, your readings sync to our server so trend checks and family sharing work, and only the people you invite can see them. We don’t sell your data, and there are no ads or analytics trackers in the apps.

Who we are

Ahead (“we”) is an independent project built by Ryan Singer in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA. It includes three Android apps — AheadBLE, Ahead and Ahead Lite — and this website, aheadt1d.com. Contact: hello@aheadt1d.com.

What each app does with your data

• AheadBLE has no account and no internet access. It pairs with your Dexcom G7 over Bluetooth and saves each reading to Android’s Health Connect on your phone. It never sends anything to us.
• Ahead reads your glucose from Health Connect. The analysis, projections and alerts run on your phone. When you sign in, Ahead also syncs your readings to your Ahead account (see below).
• Ahead Lite is for people following someone else. It signs in to your own account and downloads readings from the people who have chosen to share with you. It doesn’t use Bluetooth or Health Connect.

What we store on our servers

Only if you create an account:

• Account details: your email address, an optional display name, and your password (stored only as a salted hash, never in readable form), plus when you created the account and last signed in.
• Glucose readings: each reading’s time and value, uploaded by Ahead.
• Sharing: who you’ve shared with (or who has shared with you), so followers can see the right person and nobody else.
• Devices: a key for each phone signed in to your account, so a lost phone can be cut off.
• Security logs: sign-in and sign-up attempts (the email typed, whether it worked, the IP address and time) and requests that were rate-limited. These help us spot break-in attempts.
• Email tokens: single-use, expiring codes behind the verification and password-reset emails (stored hashed).

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos or anything from your phone beyond what’s listed above. The camera permission in AheadBLE is only used to scan the barcode on your sensor applicator, on your phone.

Who can see your readings

Only you, and only the people you add in Menu → Account → Manage Sharing. You can remove anyone at any time and their access ends. Sharing requires the other person to have an account with a verified email, so a typo can’t hand your data to a stranger. Our own access to the server is limited to the developer, for running and fixing the service; we don’t browse your readings out of curiosity.

Who we use to run it

• Railway hosts our server.
• Supabase hosts our database.
• Resend delivers our emails (verification and password reset).
• Cloudflare delivers this website and its downloads, and can see ordinary web-request information (like IP address) as any host does.
• Google Fonts supplies this website’s typefaces, so your browser contacts Google to load them. The apps do not.

These companies process data for us to run the service. We don’t sell your data to them or anyone else, and we don’t use advertising networks or analytics or tracking services. This website doesn’t use tracking cookies; it only saves your role choice and setup checklist ticks in your own browser (local storage) so the page remembers them.

How long we keep it

Right now we don’t automatically delete old readings — they stay until you delete your account or ask us to. When you delete your account, your account, readings, devices and sharing are removed. Security-log lines about sign-in attempts may remain for a while afterwards, no longer linked to your account.

Your choices

• Delete your account in the app under Menu → Account → Delete account. You’ll confirm with your password.
• Stop sharing with anyone, any time, in Manage Sharing.
• Ask us anything — for a copy of your data, a correction, or confirmation that something is deleted — at hello@aheadt1d.com. There’s no in-app password reset yet, so forgotten passwords are also handled by email.
• Use it on-device only. AheadBLE never talks to our servers, and you control which permissions each app has in Android settings.

Security

We protect accounts with hashed passwords, expiring sign-in tokens, rate limits and encrypted connections, and we keep the ability to disable an account or a lost device. No system is perfectly secure, and this is early beta software built by one person, so please don’t treat it as a vault.

Children

Ahead isn’t designed for children to sign up on their own, and we don’t knowingly create accounts for children under 13. A parent or guardian who sets up Ahead for their child is making that choice and is responsible for the account.

Changes

If we change this policy in a meaningful way we’ll update the date above and, where we can, tell account holders by email.

Terms of Use

By installing or using Ahead, AheadBLE or Ahead Lite, or by using this website, you agree to these terms.

Ahead is not a medical device

• Ahead is a monitoring companion and research project for information and awareness. It has not been cleared or approved by the FDA or any regulator.
• It does not replace your CGM’s own alarms, your receiver, your insulin delivery system, or your care team’s advice.
• It never tells you how much insulin to take or what to eat. Projections are estimates from glucose readings alone and don’t know about insulin, food or activity. If you’re unsure about a reading, confirm it (for example with a fingerstick) before acting.
• Alerts are best-effort. Android, Bluetooth, your sensor, your battery settings and the internet can all delay or block them. Keep another way of being alerted.
• You are responsible for your own diabetes care and for decisions made using what you see. If someone you follow is in trouble, don’t rely on an app — call them or get help.

Beta software

Ahead is early beta software built and tested by one person. The downloads on this site are development (“debug”) builds shared directly, not store releases. Features can change, break or disappear, and the service may be interrupted or shut down. We’ll do our best, but there’s no guarantee.

Your account and how you use it

• Give us accurate information and keep your password safe. You’re responsible for what happens on your account.
• The main account in Ahead should belong to the person living with Type 1. Companion accounts in Ahead Lite are for people following them.
• Only share your data with people you trust, and only follow someone who has chosen to share with you. Don’t try to access anyone’s data without their invitation.
• Don’t attack, overload, reverse-engineer for harm, or try to break into the service or other people’s accounts. We may disable accounts or devices that do.

No warranty, and limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the apps, the website and the service are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, and we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential harm, lost data, or missed or delayed alerts. Nothing here limits rights you have under law that can’t be waived.

Changes and ending

We may update these terms, and we may suspend or end the service. You can stop using Ahead and delete your account at any time.

Software licenses

• AheadBLE is free software under the GNU General Public License v3 (GPLv3). It builds on the open-source Dexcom G7 protocol work of the Juggluco project and its contributors, with thanks. Its source code and license text are being published at github.com/NootedNoot/ahead-ble.
• Ahead and Ahead Lite are © 2026 Ryan Singer. During the beta you may install and use them for your own personal, non-commercial use. Please don’t redistribute them or sell them.
• This website’s text and design are © 2026 AheadT1D.
